From Radbuza river springs to Hostouň

This biketrip goes through border forests and places where former villages Waldorf, Pleš, Rabov and Václav were. You will go up to hill several times and beautifull lanscape views to Czech and German will be your prize for it. Finding of the springs of Radbuza rivier will be your special experience, because most of cyclist must to walk out of saddle of his/her bike. This biketrip is intended to the cyclists whose like to discover beautifill nature, landscape views and don´t afraid climb to the top of some hill or sit off his/her bike saddle.

Region full of empty villages, landscape several years not changed by building works of man - this is the Český les region on of the border mountains former Iron Curtain. Wide-spread forest full of good forest roads and small asphalt roads connecting foothills villagesad small towns, this is paradise for tourists, especially on the bike. Marked biketrails including two international ones attract mainly cyclists. Česky les offers nice biketrips to everyone especially from Pilsen city wchi is connected by bikebus via Stod city, Nýřany city to the cities in Česky les: Poběžovice, Hostouň and bělá nad Radbuzou and to the end station Železná/Tillischanz on the Czech-German border. From this place you can start one of the three bike trips and to look over three cities in the end of each of them.

Biketrip B (black line)

Waldorf is one of empty villages where the second biketrip starts. There is a lot of beautifull lansdscape views between Pleš and former villages Václav, Šidlákov (above village) and Drahotín (behind village). The pub between Pleš and Rabov is usually open. Short detour goes to view point Zvon which is usually closed to the public (it is military area). You can enjoy the beauty of beech forests, because you will pass several nature preserved places (Pleš, Malý Zvon, Nad Hutí), where very old beech forests and herb level with unique flowers is preserved. Before turning to Rybník village dont´t forget look to very old bridge over Radbuza river. It was part of so called Ostrovská path (Ostrovská stezka). Recommended stop for lunch is Rybnik, Hora sv. Václava or Hostouň. There is another interesting place on the route - Závist village where water divide between Labe and Donau river is. It sais that water from each part of the cottage rooff flows to different European large stream. You will enjoy little adventure during finding of the Radbuza river springs because the route to this place is not marked and there is better to walk out of bike saddle. There is several up to hill running on this biketrip, where beautifull lanscape views from the top and during downhill running will be your prize. This bike trip ends in Hostouň city but it is easy to go to Bělá city, because the route goes alone Radbuza river without hills.

Hostouň - black biketrip destination

Hostouň was formely the town with town rights and heraldry. There was seat of noble manor and important market place with craft production in the middle age. It was the seat for Hostouň county court before 2nd world war. Horse breeding farm was well known too as well as several industrial plants for production of looms, pins, red bricks and beer. During the 2nd world war whole Hostouň county was annected as the part of Sudetenland to pan-German empire. After German inhabitants leave in 1946 stage of stagnation started and some building was destroyed. Bigger development of the Hostouň city became in nineties. Houstouň includes 11 villages around and has as its dominant St. Jacob´s church with a new pyramidal roof after the fire in 1877. Hostouň is situated on the St Jacob´s pilgrimate route to Santiago de Compostela.
